The Great River Region
of the
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
Our partner school in Haiti collapsed... and all who were it were lost...

From Barbara E. Jones, Executive Regional Minister:

The pictures above are from Dr. Kimberly and Rev. Patrick Bentrott's blog.

Felix Ortiz, Global Ministries, reminds us that ministers of the 5000+ churches we parter with in CONESPEH are there in the midst of their people and we must be in prayer supporting them as we can. THE BENTROTT'S  BLOG IS THE BEST WAY TO KEEP TRACK OF DAY TO DAY ACTIVITIES.

So how do we in the GRR help Haiti?

1)  Make a donation to Week of Compassion. Go to WOC's secure online donation page, send a check to WOC, or send a check to the region and tell us it is for WOC-Haiti and 100% of your designated gifts go directly to relief efforts in Haiti.

2)    Make and send kits for Church World Service.  Hygiene kits and baby relief kits are depleted from the Church World Service warehouse.  (CWS is our major relief partner.) Download and print the list for hygiene kits, and send those kits to the CWS warehouse in Little Rock, AR.

The Great River Region is a ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) which seeks to build up the Body of Christ and strengthen the ministries of Disciples of Christ congregations in Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi.  Focused on discernment of God's call in each of our lives, congregations and shared ministries, we work through regional staff, congregational leaders, and denominational ministries.

Three deployed regional pastors provide primary care to clergy and congregations across the region.  The Regional Office is located in Little Rock, Arkansas.  The Executive Regional Minister is the primary staff person who is involved beyond the region in denomination activities to represent and act on behalf of the region in the larger church.  She also works with congregations in matters of policies, bylaw updates, incorporations and legal issues; the regional board and regional ministry committee; as well as ordinations and celebrations.  Each district pastoral staff carry half time portfolios in region-wide responsibilities.
