ABOUT THE GREAT RIVER REGION
The Great River Region is a ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) which seeks to build up the Body of Christ and strengthen the ministries of Disciples of Christ congregations in
Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi.
Focused on discernment of God's call in each of our lives, congregations and shared ministries, we work through regional staff, congregational leaders, and denominational ministries.

The Executive Regional Minister, Rev. Barbara E. Jones, and Regional Pastor,
Rev. Vance Moore, provide primary care to clergy and congregations across the region. The Regional Office is located in Little Rock, Arkansas. The Executive Regional Minister is involved beyond the region in denomination activities to represent and act on behalf of the region in the larger church. She also works with congregations in matters of policies, bylaw updates, incorporations and legal issues; the regional board and regional ministry committee; as well as ordinations and celebrations. Each person on staff carry multiple portfolios in region-wide responsibilities. Barbara Jones, bjones@grrcc.org and Vance Moore, brovance@grrcc.org

About Special Day Offerings
Special Days in the life of the church often allow us to focus our worship, celebrations and fellowship around moments that are central to our faith.
Disciples Mission Fund Special Day Offerings also provide an opportunity to highlight specific ministries as part of our faith celebrations.
There are four Disciples Mission Fund Special Day Offerings received each year during Easter, Pentecost, Thanksgiving, and Christmas seasons. Also, Special Mission Fund offerings for Week of Compassion and Reconciliation Ministry are received in the early winter and fall respectively. Each offering supports a specific ministry providing critical resources.
Christmas Special Day Offering. This offering will be received in most congregations on December 11 and 18, 2011.

The Christmas Offering supports Regional Ministries. In 33 regions across the U.S. and Canada, ministers are nurtured and congregations are provided opportunities for work and worship.
Help support the Christmas Offering!

Often recognized for the ministries of camps and conferences, regions also play a critical role in the preparation and authorization of ministerial ordination. Both are key to church leadership and development. Regions partner with congregations to support the work required to call a new minister.
