DUMAS AR TORNADO UPDATE

Ed and Donna Owen, First Christian Church of Meridian MS, made a trip to Dumas AR.

The following note and pictures were forwarded to me, and I want to make them available to the region.  You may remember that we do not have a church in or near Dumas, but this community was wiped out, yet not declared a Disaster Area by the federal government.  The good news this week is that Small Business Administration loans are finally available to business and individuals.

If you would like to help with any of the needs listed below, contact Linda Weatherford as noted below.

Mr. & Mrs. Owen,

Thanks so much for coming to Dumas and showing your support of our community.  Your interest in our town and its people is very encouraging.  Your help at the ball park and at the hospital was tremendous.  You are a fantastic family and we hope that we will be able to work with you in the future.

We find that we are in need of volunteer skilled labor in the area of electricians and a plumber.  At this time, it is for two businesses.  One is Delta Lube, Mr. Jimmy needs an electrician at the end of this week and a plumber soon after.  The other is for Miller's Tire.  Corey Miller has ordered his metal building shell and will need a skilled labor in 5 to 8 weeks depending on the construction of his building.  The individual families are all at different stages.  We know that we will need sheet-rock hangers and finishers for one family toward the end of this week and next week.  Two other families are to get back to us this morning as to what they will need in the next few weeks and when.

Words cannot express the gratitude and appreciation for all of the kindnesses and care that have been shown to us.  Just know that we thank you.  Doug and Linda Weatherford, Dumas High School, lweather1243@yahoo.com
